MFA

I was recently accepted into an MFA program for Creative Writing! It's exciting news, and despite the future stress I am about to bring upon myself by pursuing two Master's degrees at once while teaching full-time, I can't wait to get started!

Being in this program means having an excuse to write during my spare time - it'll be my homework to write! Now I won't have to feel guilty every time I sit down to outline a chapter when I should really be outlining my next lesson plan. I can sit and write - and get valuable feedback on what I am writing.

I plan on putting my Calypso series on the back-burner while this is in progress - I'm not forgetting about it, but it won't be a part of this program for me. It's too personal. I'm thinking about using this program in order to really develop If Found, which I've outlined in full but have only written three chapters of. It's requiring a significant amount of research into both the historical and current conditions of North Korean, so it's taking time to write out due to my wanting to be accurate.

In other news, my D&D group is thinking of starting up again. It was my job to chronicle our previous campaign, and although I only posted 3 of our episodes online I have the others in my notebook. Our new campaign is going to have a new DM, so we're all making new characters and basically starting it from scratch. Once we get going I can begin posting our episodes once more.

Public school opens this week, which means my spare time will significantly dwindle from infinite to nonexistent, so we'll see how any writing goes (apart from my MFA program) from here on.
