My Literal Shrimp Heaven

Last Friday night, I had the sheer joy of witnessing my three favorite brothers live in Brooklyn. It was one of the most enjoyable nights of my life, probably after meeting Hugh Howey and seeing Eddie Izzard live. The brothers did not disappoint in the slightest - I wanted the night to never end.

The brothers - Griffin especially - had me in tears of laughter. It's a truly great feeling, laughing that way and enjoying such a great night with somebody I love. Please note that my pictures from that night are indeed quite shitty, as it was a dark theatre and my sheer love for these boys made my hands super unsteady while I was attempting to take some photographic evidence of their awesomeness.

Lin Manuel Miranda graced us with his presence, and his own original rendition of Shrimp Heaven, which was absolutely delightful, and the opening show was Still Buffering, which was also great fun to watch live. I've only listened to their podcasts occasionally, in the hopes that perhaps I can use their knowledge to connect better with the mass of pre-teens I am surrounded by each day.

So yeah - AMAZING night. MBMBAM, Lin Manuel Miranda, Shrimp Heaven.... did I mention I also got a SIGNED POSTER?!?!?!?!?! The only thing that could have completed my night more completely was if Griffin came onto the stage riding a literal centaur.

I've been blocking off my spare time in order to give myself not just the physical time, but also more of a reason to get back into my writing. The MFA is definitely one huge aspect of giving myself the time to write, but a lot of it also comes down to mental health and the sheer enjoyability of my own life.

Now that work has really picked up once more, I find myself already becoming run down and exhausted, with little time or motivation to do anything other than eat and sleep. Seeing the brothers do their live show last week really pushed some things into perspective - they're doing what they truly love doing, and I want that too.

So I'm going to do it.
